VOTE WHETHER YOU THINK AUBURN ROLLED TOOMER'S CORNER AFTER BEAR BRYANT'S DEATH:

The Tide and Tiger is giving bama fans the chance to vote whether you believe Auburn students rolled Toomer's Corner after Bear Bryant died.  In the previous post, RammerJammer perpetuated the widely-held but baseless belief among some most bammers that Auburn fans did indeed carry out this unsubstantiated act.  Keep in mind that RJ also believes he will receive money from forwarding emails, he doesn't take drinks from strangers for fear of it leading to his kidneys being harvested, and he won't say "Candyman" three times while looking in a mirror.

Keep reading and vote after the break...
This urban legand is one of the reasons Updyke poisoned the trees at Toomer's Corner.  In his now infamous call to the Pawl Finebaum show, Updyke said, a "good friend from Birmingham" sent him a newspaper clipping of an article "showing" Auburn students rolling Toomer's Corner after hearing of Bryant's death in 1983.  For more on the fallacies behind this legend, be sure to read this well researched article from The War Eagle Reader.  You can also read Kevin Scarbinsky's debunking of the legend here and The Opelika Auburn News' debunking of the legend here.  For our part here, we want to see how gullible bammers actually are, so here's your opportunity to vote on whether you believe Auburn students rolled Toomer's Corner after Bryant died - cast your vote in the box at the top of the right sidebar on the Home page of The Tide and Tiger.  The voting will stay open for one week, and we will publish the results for all to see.

  2. Doesn't really matter what they think. I was there... better yet, I studied graphic design and our classes were in Biggin Hall, the building located directly on Toomer's Corner. Had they rolled it we would have known about it. LOL, back in those days before they locked the buildings, they would raid our building and take all the toilet paper. Bottom line, I was a student at at Auburn from 1980 - 84 and it did not happen. Just a bunch of bammer's wanting to make an excuse to justify updyke's actions. Updyke, Scott Moore, Danny Sheridan... the faces of "the nation"

  3. I was eating lunch at Sewell hall when we heard Bryant had been admitted to the hospital with chest pains.

Later that night it was announced he had died. All of the coaches were sad especially the ones that played or coached for Bryant--which was just about everyone except for Jack Crowe, Wayne Bolt, James Daniela and Joe WHhitt. Oh and Blakeney.

  4. We think BigBlueAub should be a lawyer... Read the headline from the Opeleika Auburn News' article. Finding no evidence of an event happening and debunking something are two entirely different things. If BBA can show us a picture of the Toomers trees on said date with no TP, that would be debunking the alleged actions of Barners.
