GOT 14? BE WARY AUBURN FANS!

No, this isn't a post about the dyslexic mathematics bammers hope to continue employing in counting their mythical national championships after this season.  Instead, this post is about about a bizarre trend that Auburn has developed under Chizik's reign.  I was reminded of it when Auburn went up 14-0 against Mississippi State last weekend....

When Auburn led 14-0 in the first quarter last weekend, I felt an uneasiness in my stomach instead of jubilation.  Why?  Because the 14 point lead has become an albatross for Chizik's Tigers.  Albatross, you say?  Yes, because in the blink of an eye, that 14 point lead had vanished into a 21-14 deficit, much like 14 point leads have evaporated in these games:

2009 - Kentucky - Auburn led by 14 in the second quarter before losing the game.

2009 - Georgia - Auburn led by 14 in the first quarter before losing the game.

2009 - Auburn led by 14 in the first quarter before losing the game.

2009/2010 - Northwestern - Auburn led by 14 in the second quarter before squandering the lead and managing to win in O.T.

2010 - Kentucky - Auburn led by 14 in the first quarter (and later led by 24) before squandering the lead and managing to win on a last second field goal.

2011 - Mississippi State - Auburn led by 14 in the first quarter before squandering the lead, managing to get the lead back, and holding on to win on a goal line stand as time expired.

Of course, Auburn has won some of the games in which it has led by 14, but it has lost more of those games than it has won.  So, be wary Auburn fans next time Chizik's Tigers take a 14 point lead.
